The Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program provides recipients with the following benefits:

  • Citizenship: Must not hold dual citizenship of any developed country

  • Education: Hold a Bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree earned at least 3 years prior to the application deadline
  • Work Experience: Have 3 years or more of recent development-related work experience after earning a Bachelor’s degree
  • Employment: Be employed in development-related work in a full-time paid position at the time of submitting the application. Exceptions are made for nationals of countries on the updated list of Fragile and Conflict States.
  • Admission: Must be admitted unconditionally (except for funding) for the upcoming academic year to at least one of the JJ/WBGSP preferred university master’s programs located outside the applicant’s country of citizenship and residence. The admission letter must be uploaded before submitting the application.
  • World Bank Group Employment: Must not be an Executive Director, his/her alternate, staff of any type of appointment at the World Bank Group, or a close relative of the aforementioned by blood or adoption.
